Sonja and Alex Berg
A young German couple caring personally for the guests. Sonja, a hotel specialist and travel agent and Alex, a tourism manager and sports teacher, travelled for five years with backpacks all around the world to find the perfect place to stay, and found it finally in Ushongo Beach!Environment and Local Employment.
Beach Crab Resort is committed to supporting the development of the local community. The resort only uses local materials for buildings, which are sourced from surrounding villages. No tree or bush has been cut for building, the resort arranges for timber to be taken from around and between existing plants. The salvage forest product is used by villagers to build furniture which has in turn bought by the resort.
An advances plan of the hotel is to build up a "training centre" open for every villager as there are no schools here for vocational hotel jobs such as cooks and bartenders, through to health education, computer training and English courses. The training centre will be run from the income of the hotel to give the young people of the area a chance in the future.and also supports the local economy.
