This Vuma Hills Tented Camp is a low profile structure, made of canvas tents with thatched roofs and is raised on wooden stilts.
Vuma Hills Tented Camp in Mikumi National Park (formerly Foxes Safari Camp) is built with local materials, including wood, stone and thatch. Our timber is mostly sourced from the Mafinga region, using timber grown by Foxes themselves in forestry reserves that is processed by a local company. Then, our stone is either plucked straight from our own hill, or sourced from nearby Mikumi quarry. And, our roofs are thatched using makuti grown, harvested and prepared materials in nearby Kilosa. Moreover, we use canvas and cloth for linen that is manufactured in the local mills at Morogoro. Finally, our tents, while a bit further afield, are manufactured in Arusha, Tanzania.
As well as using natural products, we are careful to assist regional employment.
